THE NEWVILLE FOUNTAIN FESTIVAL RETURNS JUNE 16-17, 2017
This year’s theme: “TELEVISION COMES TO NEWVILLE”.

OUR NEXT PLANNING SESSION WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, JUNE 1, 2017 at 7:00PM IN THE NEWVILLE BOROUGH OFFICE at 4WEST STREET. VOLUNTEERS ARE WELCOME! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH THE PARADE LINE-UP.
THIS WILL BE THE FINAL MEETING, PRIOR TO THE FESTIVAL.

To register for the Porch Decorating Contest, please call the Borough Office at 776-7633

Volunteers are needed to help organize the parade. If you would like to help, please call Carolyn Kough at 776-3533.

Workers are needed for both days of the event. This is a great opportunity for college students to earn extra money - $12.00/HOUR. Contact Fred Potzer at 776-7633 if you would like to help.

NOTES FROM THE NEWVILLE FOUNTAIN FESTIVAL MEETING OF MAY 4, 2017 AT 7:00PM


The Newville Fountain Festival Committee met at the Newville Borough Office on May 4, 2017 at 7:00PM. Members present: Carolyn Kough, Chairman, Judy Hockensmith, Dick Copenhaver, Lizzie McElwain, Rausa Roscinski and Clarence Fry.

The purpose of the meeting was to finalize the festival brochure.

Events of Friday, June 16, 2017:

5:30PM TV Personality/Character Look Alike Contest (judges – Jane Graham, Bob Over
and Pam Jones.
6:30PM Shippensburg Swing Band at the Fountain
7:30PM Fountain Festival Parade, Grand Marshal Randy Finkey
8:30PM Street Dance with Scott Donato
8:30PM Newville Slide Presentation at former Farmers National Bank by Newville
Historian Robert F. Over.

Events of Saturday, June 17, 2017:

6:30AM to 8:30AM Vendor set-up.
7:00AM to 10:00AM Friendship Hose Company Breakfast Buffett
7:00AM to 3:00PM Antique and Classic Car Show at Community Park, featuring antique tractors, hit and miss engines,  auto parts flea market.  Food and refreshments available. Live DJ from 10AM to 2PM
8:00AM to 2:00PM Chalk Art Contest on West Street.
8:00AM Blueberry Baking Contest – Judged by Big Spring Kiwanis
Baked goods from contest will be sold at the Kiwanis stand
8:30AM 5K Run on Big Spring Avenue
10:00AM Graveyard tour at Big Spring Presbyterian Church by Historian Jane Graham
12 Noon Duck Derby at Laughlin Mill
12Noon-3:00PM The Klinger McFry Band
2:00PM to 3:00PM Chuck Adler Band at Newville Community Park
3:00PM Porch Decorating Contest Winners Announced
Other events throughout the day : Library Book Sale, Live DJ, GRV Train Exhibit Tours by shuttle bus, Newville Historical Society display at 69 South High Street, Kids Alley, Pony Rides, Porch Decorating Contest.


Other business:
• Contact Karl Smith to determine if power and water may be available from his home at 3 Parsonage Street.
• Donations of $500 each received from ACNB and the American Legion. $100 from Custom Flooring.
• Channel 43 Fox News Anchor Drew Anderson to feature the festival during live coverage during the week before the festival.
• Contact Carlisle Rental Center for tent, tables and chairs for 50 people (Betty Swartz lawn).
• Duck Derby Tickets: Nancy Creek, Bender Auto Park, Kane’s Corner, FHC.
• Letter sent to BS Pharmacy for donation of candy for children’s carnival.
• 22 Craft Vendors, 9 Community Service Organizations, 8 food vendors signed as of 5/4/17.

FINAL PARADE MEETING: THURSDAY, JUNE 1, 2017 AT 7:00PM IN THE BOROUGH OFFICE.
