The Big Spring Kiwanis Club and the Borough of Newville wish to thank all who supported the 2nd Annual Christmas Parade on December 13, 2013. Both the parade and visit from Santa were quite successful. To all who braved the cold temperatures to support the holiday event, we say “thank you”. This year over $900 was raised from community donations. Over 200 children participated and received stockings and gifts thanks to the generosity of the Newville community. The committee wishes to thank the Big Spring Inter-Church Council and the Newville Special Fire Police for their support. A very special thanks to BSHS Art Teacher Judy Mislitski and members of the BSHS Art Club who painted a beautiful backdrop holiday setting for the Santa Stage. Thanks also to Eagle Scout Mike Morris, Troop 174 of Newville and all who help in support. Mike and his fellow scouts constructed the holiday figures and stage for the event. The participants enjoyed hot dogs and hot chocolate served by Scoutmaster Gordon Holl and the members of Newville Troop 174. Special thanks to David Handshew and Charlie Boyles of the Newville Public Works Department for all of their hard work in making this event a huge success!
