Mayor William A. Toth and Police Chief Randy L. Finkey are pleased to announce that the 5th Annual National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM on West Big Spring Avenue. This event is sponsored by the Newville Borough Police Department, and is made possible due in large part to the generous support of Newville area businesses and service organizations. The event will showcase police, fire and emergency service units. This year’s participants include: Newville Borough Police Department, Friendship Hose Company No. 1, Inc., Newville EMS, Cumberland County CART Team, Western Emergency Management Association, Cumberland County Search and Rescue, and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department. Exhibits include: Cumberland/Perry Drug and Alcohol Commission, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, Pennsylvania Trauma Society and Andrea Greene of the Cornerstone Federal Credit Union. Free food and refreshments include: soda and water courtesy of Bender Auto Parts, hot dogs and barbeque courtesy of S and K Auto and Pet Spa, funnel cakes courtesy of M&D Enterprises, soft pretzels courtesy of the Newville Lions Club. The Newville General Store will be offering free gift bags. The Big Spring Kiwanis Club will be giving away back to school supplies to children of the community. Face painting will be provided by Morganne Frampton and Madison Deitch, Strouse Entertainment will offer of bounce ride for the children. Office Jarreau Dodson will provide a demonstration of the department’s new radio equipment to children of the community. The highlight of the evening will be the Klinger/McFry Band, live from 6PM to 8PM. Please come out and enjoy this opportunity to meet with your friends and neighbors, and to support the Newville Borough Police Department and local emergency service providers.
