Borough Purchases Dump Truck

The Borough of Newville and Newville Borough Water and Sewer Authority recently purchased a used GMC Dump Truck for the Public Works Department. The truck was purchased from a car dealership in Dillsburg at a cost of $6,000. The truck was formerly used by the York County Solid Waste Authority.  The truck is equipped with a 10’ power angle plow and a retractable tarp cover.  Borough Council will use the truck to plow snow during heavy storms. In the past, the borough borrowed a dump truck from West Pennsboro Township to aid in snow removal. The larger dump body will enable the borrow to haul snow as well. The Newville Water and Sewer Authority will use the vehicle for water and sewer repairs. Mechanical repairs to the truck were minimal. Timothy S. Barrick Inc. performed the mechanical repairs. Roger Dupert of Newville Auto Service painted the truck cab. All other refurbishment was a completed by Public Works Employees David Handshew, Charles Boyles, Kevin Page and Tim Zeigler. The truck was lettered by Cary Murray of Walnut Bottom Sign Company.
