Community Service Worker Assistance To The Elderly and Physically Challenged

    The Borough of Newville will provide assistance to the elderly and physically challenged thanks to the community service program approved recently by the Newville Borough Council.The borough will assign individuals to help mow grass and maintain weed growth on the property of elderly or physically challenged individuals residing within the borough. In order to qualify, residents must contact the Borough Manager or Code Enforcement Officer at 776-7633. There is an application and screening process to confirm eligibility. Individuals assigned to community service by the municipal judicial system shall be assigned to assist residents with their lawn care needs. The service will be offered at no cost to residents or the borough.

The program is designed to insure that community service workers provide a meaningful service to the municipality. They will also learn to respect others, while working under the supervision of the borough code enforcement officer.
