ATTENTION FLOOD VICTIMS:
FLOOD EVENT WORKSHOP
CARLISLE, Pa. – Residents and businesses in the County of Cumberland that were affected by the flash flood / flood events from July 21 – 27, 2018, are invited to attend a workshop being jointly conducted by the Cumberland County Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to report any damages related to the flash flood / flood events. “If enough damages are reported, the victims of this event could possibly qualify for low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration (SBA) to assist in restoring property and homes to a livable condition,” stated Robert H. Shively Jr., Director, DPS.
Cumberland County officials are asking anyone affected by the July 21 – 27, 2018, flash flood / flood events to go to the Department of Public Safety, 1 Public Safety Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018, to meet with officials as part of the County’s effort to qualify for a SBA Disaster Declaration. In order for the Commonwealth to request a SBA Disaster Declaration, a minimum of 25 homeowners, renters and/or businesses with little or no insurance to cover the damages is needed to qualify. “No one is obligated to take a loan,” stated Director Shively, “however; we need to capture all uninsured losses so that those who want to apply for a loan will be able to.”
Officials want to thank those residents/business owners that have already provided damage assessment information but also stress the importance to attend this workshop so the damages can be confirmed, as well as, to receive additional guidance that may assist with possible additional resources available.
