The new children’s play area at the Newville Trailhead located on McFarland Street received two generous donations this week. F&M Trust officials on Thursday, December 19, 2013 presented the Borough of Newville with a check in the amount of $500 in support of the project. F&M Vice President Bob Weed and Financial Services Officer/Manager Ellen Ile joined in presenting the check to Councilman Edward Sinkovitz. The Newville Borough Council received an unexpected donation from Curt and Craig Saylor, owners of Saylor’s Market on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 during the Council meeting. Saylor’s Market presented a check to Council President William Toth in the amount of $1,000 to help fund the construction of the children’s play area.
Newville Borough has received a $9,350 grant from the Cumberland County Land Partnerships Program to pay for one-half of the cost of constructing the new play area. The Borough Council initiated a fund drive led by Councilman Sinkovitz to raise the $9,350 in matching funds required for the project. Construction of the new play area is expected to begin in the spring of 2014.
The Newville Borough Council wishes to thank all who have donated generously in support of this project.
