Free Community Training: The RASE Project

Big Spring Presbyterian Church is hosting a naloxone training in response to the continuing opiate epidemic. Kristin Varner of The RASE Project will present a brief overview behind the science of addiction and recovery. You’ll receive free naloxone after you learn about the drug itself and how to administer it. Pre-registration is required.

How We Got the Bible, a three-session study of the distinctive elements of Presbyterian Life and Thought, will be presented by Rev. Dr. Charles (Buz) Myers, a religious studies professor at Gettysburg College. All three sessions (9:00-10:30, 10:45-12:15, 1:00-2:00) will be held on a Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. A light lunch will be provided.

Registrations: 8 AM to 10 AM with free coffee & donuts courtesy of Blimbo Bakeries

Event: 10 AM to 2 PM

Live Band: 11 AM to 1 PM

Registration Fee- $15

Trophy Presentation will take place at 1:30 PM

Live Band-Chicken Barbecue- Boy Scout Troop 174 Food Stand- Newville PD K-9 Fundraiser

Proceeds of this event will be donated by the Newville Area Community Events Committee to benefit  the PA Wounded Warriors Foundation

Newville Historical Society Chicken Barbecue

The Newville Historical Society will be hosting a chicken barbecue dinner that will be served at the VFW/Newville Community Park lower pavilion in conjunction with the Wheels for Warriors Car Show.

For convenience: a drive-through will be available at the VFW Post for Your Convenience

The meal will cost $10: chicken half, baked beans, apple sauce, and roll.

Proceeds will benefit the Newville Historical Society.

The 2019 Veterans Day Observance will be held on November 11, 2019 at 11AM at the Memorial on Fountain Square.

The 2019 Hometown Hero Banners will be presented to members of the fallen veterans families. The Veterans Day Service is sponsored by the Newville Joint Veterans Council.

 Big Spring Presbyterian Church invites you to their fun, fulfilling Fall.  On Sunday, September 15,  at 6:00 PM, join the community for a concert by SweetLife Music from Columbia, PA.  Enjoy traditional hymns and contemporary Christian songs.  Come at 5:00 PM for hot dogs and s’mores.  Weather permitting, we’ll be outside-bring your lawn chair!

Lyme Disease, Prevention and Education Presentation

On Wednesday, July 10th Vadim Drobin, M.D., M.P.H. Public Health Education with the Department of Health/Bureau of Community Health Systems will be at the Big Spring Senior Center at 9:30 AM to discuss Lyme Disease, Prevention and Education.

Pennsylvania is one of the leading States in detection of Lyme Disease. It is a debilitating disease which attacks any age. Walk ins are welcome.
